New Balance Trail Run - June 20, 2010

REGISTRATION CLOSED! It's too late when my friend Eugene & I decided to registered for this event. We we're just texting & he asks me to find him a 10K before running for Milo Marathon's 21K. He's really freaking out 'coz he's nervous & bothered since the day we registered him for MILO. To make the story short, I started calling Planet Sport's coordinator to ask if there's still available slots for us, luckily there are so we went to New Balance Shangri-la to register at the same time to buy trail shoes.

THE NIGHT BEFORE. I was asking myself, can I run for 10K? Can I finish the trail? Can I really really make it? What if NOT? Hah! A lot's been bothering on my mind! It's my FIRST time to have this TRAIL run & also my FIRST for the 10K, what the heck am I doing? The weather is not good, there's rain showers in Laguna the night before the event so I was having this picturesque of the trail.

THE DAY. The trail started on time 5.15AM if I can still remember. There are a lot who participated: newbies like me, triathletes, husband & wives & even their children & anyone who loves adventure. First 5K I can say is a bit rocky, slippery & uneven so I was too careful on my steps. As expected, too much mud on our trail shoes & small stones invades it. I was unconcerned on the water stations 'coz I have with me my hydration belt, but for the record the first water station is located at the first 5K & on the last 8K. Moving on is the more technical trail so extra care has been given to avoid accident, we crossed river & after that we climb using a rope. As the finish line is getting nearer, I feel like my strength is diminishing & my feet is getting heavier. My buddy is motivating & pushing me to finish it. On our last 1K, I told my buddy to go ahead & that we'll just meet at the finish line.

FINISH LINE. My official time for this Trail is 1:29:22 & ranked 186 out of 353 runners.

This is really a GREAT adventure, Happy Father's Day!!!

Team Woman Run by Lactacyd June 27, 2010

It was one Sunday morning when all the women gathered at The Venice Piazza Mall, McKinley Hill for the Team Woman Run by Lactacyd. Me and my friend Haydee participated in the 5K individual run.

4.30AM - Meet up Hayds at Starmall, Alabang.
We we're crossing our fingers 'coz that early, there's already traffic built-up at South Super High-way. When we found out it was this Coca-cola delivery truck that's causing the traffic. Glad that the run hasn't started yet so we still can do our light stretching & to take photos. We saw Robin da Roza & Rovilson Fernandez which of course we took advantage of taking photos with them, Hayds really loves Rovilson & she's kinikilig pa when we saw him sa parking pa lang. We also saw Iza Calzado, Jaime Rivera, wife of Vince Hizon, Danica Sotto & of course Coach Rio ;)

5.15AM Gunshot!
What a HILL! For this race, there's a lot of uphills & downhills which makes it more challenging. My unofficial time is 32:_:_ ; improving by 7 mins..but felt a little upset 'coz I'm expecting that I can finish the race in just 30 mins, really needs to practice more. I'll just wait & see for my next 5K in Milo Marathon on July 4, 2010.

We bumped into my FB friend Carina, who's one of the coach in Adination & facilitator of Takbo.ph..finally we meet & introduced her also to Hayds. She's really nice & told us to attend every Thursdays at BHS (glad we already have our passport) ;)

We headed to the Piazza & there's a lot of freebies awaiting, wondering what's in-store for our 600-peso worth of registration? ha-ha-ha. Of course before going home, we had photo session again at the stage, wall, timex booth, anywhere & even to the not-so-pretty version of DARNA! hehehe.

Over-all the event is a success! There's an overflowing water & 100 plus in hydration station, the relay concept is good & Coach Rio is very hands-on on this event. Looking forward to next year.

Congratulations to everyone who joined!

Walk The World - June 6, 2010

It's my first time to participate in this event & my first ever 5K RUN since I only started running last 3rd week of May 2010 so I was feeling kind of excited when I registered along with my friends Haydee & Marlon who are my running buddies too.

Woke up around 3AM, assembly time is 5AM. Meet up Hayds at Starmall, Alabang, had breakfast (hot choco & stuffed pandesal) while waiting for her. We're just on time when we reached The Fort. The weather is just fine (no rain & no sun ray) perfect!

6AM Gunshot!
Out of 1178 who ran, I ranked 491 with an official time of 39:57, pace 8:00, not bad for the first timer ;)

We watched the program, KC Concepcion sang the theme song with the kiddos, we didn't wait for the awarding 'coz we're so tired & hungry. We had our breakfast at Jollibee with Tita Mel, Marlon & Haydee & little chit-chats after eating.

I really had FUN..until next run ;)
